When the funnest retro dance party in Toronto turns 7–yeah really it’s been 7 years–Saturday July 14th, we just have to celebrate extra hard.
Over the years Goin’ Steady’s impeccably curated selection of 40’s, 50’s and 60’s music has attracted a wide range of snappy dressers, raunchy dancers and rebellious rockers, reaching far beyond it’s niche audience to become a veritable institution in the indie club scene.
The story of Goin’ Steady belongs to a long tradition of DIY parties that popped up in Toronto as an alternative to the mainstream club scene in the early 2000′s. Goin’ Steady was dreamt up by a couple of friends looking to create a different kind of party atmosphere; one that would capture the raw energy of the golden age of youth music without relying on tired retro clichés.

So happy 7 years Goin’ Steady! And thanks Matt Cully and Louis Calabro for making the mashed-potato a dance again and not just a mushy accoutrement to steak.
